Fine Ally Closet | Best Closet Designers Tips

Organizing your closet may sound like a very simple task, but all too often is not. Here are the top tips from our designers at Fine Ally Closet to help you get the most of your closet space.

Tip # 1: Don’t hide your clothes.

You won't use what you don't see.Don’t fold and hind items in drawers – Fold and place them on shelves, where they can be seen. Chances are, if you can see it, you will use it.

Tip # 2: Best use for drawers.

Use drawers to keep small items such as socks and lingerie. Use dividers (approx 2-3) inside the drawers to help you get neatly organized.

Tip # 3: Hooks, Hooks, Hooks....Here and there.. Everywhere.

Hooks are great for hanging robes and night gowns. We recommend Valet rods too; you could hang a few night gowns in one with hangers or without. These are great for “around the house clothing”

Tip # 4: Seasonal Items.

Don't leave winter clothing in your closet in Summer time and don't leave summer clothing in your closet in winter time. If you have another space in the house that is ideal but if not than store them at the highest shelves in the closet.
You'll have more space for the items you really need and use right now.

Tip # 5: Hangers Wire hangers get easily tangled.

Wood or sturdy plastic hangers are neater and help you retain the shape of your clothes.

Tip # 6: Time for change.

Remember you searched your closet for a favorite sweater, only to find mismatched legwarmers, a concert T-shirt from 1980 and a pair of pants two sizes too small?
This can only mean one thing: it's time to purge your clothes--and find that favorite sweater in no time. Spring and autumn is a great time to purge your clothes! Ask yourself if they all fit you, if they are still in style, when was last that you wore it and decide whether you still need your items or they should go to make room for fresh clothing.

Tip # 7: A jewelry drawer......WOW

I bet you have gorgeous jewelry and where you go through them you wonder why you didn't wear this or that for so long...Well they are stored, you don't wear what you don't see.
We talked about having drawers for socks and lingerie...Now what about a jewelry drawer. Our designers always make room for that special 4" deep drawer with a velvet lined jewelry tray insert that keep your jewelry neatly displayed and protected. In most cases we add a lock to these drawers.

Tip # 8: Shoes...

What did you say? Shoes?Organize your collection by style and height using adjustable shelving.

Tip # 9: What to hang and what to fold!

Always hang items which are prone to wrinkle. Fold items such as sweaters, t-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants and jeans.

Tip # 10: Grouping clothes by color.

Grouping by color is attractive and helpful. Getting dressed becomes quicker and easier.
Grouping by color also shows you if your wardrobe is out of balance so you can shop more wisely.
